Associazione Poli-sportiva Italo Australiana, simply referred to as A.P.I.A., was founded in 1954 by Italian migrants. The club enjoyed success in the local competition as well as on the national stage. A.P.I.A. won grand finals in the New South Wales First Division in 1964, 1965, 1967 and 1976.
In 1987, A.P.I.A. clinched the National Soccer League title with a star-studded team, which included the likes of goalkeeper Tony Pezzano, Charlie Yankos, Peter Katholos and Rod Brown.
