Australia qualified for its first FIFA World Cup courtesy of a wonder-strike by Jim Mackay against South Korea in Hong Kong on 13 November 1973. A third-knockout match at a neutral venue was required after successive 0-0 draws.
Players include goalkeeper Jim Fraser, Col Curran, John Watkiss, Mackay, Ray Richards, Doug Utjesenovic, Johnny Warren, Ray Baartz, Adrian Alston, Attila Abonyi and captain Peter Wilson.
