Canberra City entered the newly formed National Soccer League, sponsored by Philips, in 1977 as the only team from Australia's Capital Territory. Canberra's home games were played at Manuka Oval, which had the honour of hosting the first-ever NSL match, when Canberra was defeated 3-1 by West Adelaide in front of a crowd of 1,550.
This design is based on the Canberra jersey worn during the late-seventies.
