A 45c envelope was produced and sold in 1993 as part of Australia Post's promotion of the World Youth Championship. The artwork by Melbourne-based designer Mark Sofilas was accompanied by the description below. Australia finished fourth behind England, Ghana and champions Brazil.
The World Youth Championship, held every two years, is second only to the World Cup in international soccer competition. Involving soccer players under 20 years of age from more than 160 countries, the championship is a showcase for soccer stars of the future. The finals involve 32 matches played between 16 teams over two weeks at venues in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Adelaide. The final will be staged at the Sydney Football Stadium.
