The Philips Soccer League, Australia's first national sporting competition, began in 1977. Later known as the National Soccer League or NSL, the top level of soccer in Australia had the highest of highs and lowest of lows until its eventual demise in 2004. The NSL will always have its place in Australian soccer history. It was the breeding ground for Australia's golden generation and homegrown talent now committed to folklore.
This design is a tribute to the one-off Australian Philips Soccer League XI jersey worn against Olympiakos at the Sydney Sports Ground in 1978. Included is a stunningly woven Philips Soccer League crest on the left chest, paying homage to the patch-style logos of the era, which measures 10cm in diameter. When you put on this shirt, you are travelling back in time.
